Photo Gallery of Halong Bay

Halong Bay, or more correctly Ha Long, is definitely a must-see.  It is such a vast region but hopefully these photos give a bit of an idea of the overall experience.  It was very foggy or hazy much of the time which, in some ways, gave the bay an other-worldly look.  The copy of the chart below shows only a small portion of the whole bay, one would need weeks to visit it properly.  We only had two days.  Check 31st January for the original posting.

On the trip down from Hanoi, the bus stopped at a craft shop where they make incredible embroidered pictures and huge marble carvings.  The first 3 photos are 100% embroidered by hand.  Many for the workers were handicapped.

We kayaked into this cave which opened up into a huge lagoon

A massive network of caves inside one of the rocks

Pearl  farm, very different to the one we visited in French Polynesia
