Once we got over the excitement of seeing so many kangaroos, it was time to get down to the shops to provision Terry and Marjatta's boat, Lioness, for the trip down to Sydney and for our New Year's Eve celebrations. Lioness sits at the bottom of their garden on Dora Creek just near Newcastle. How convenient!
Terry hadn't decided whether we were going to make the trip down in one go or stop along the way but, in the end, a change in the wind direction dictated that we stop so we pulled into Pittwater in Broken Bay at the head of the Hawkesbury River, another huge and complex waterway.
This turned out to be rather fortuitous as we were suddenly hit with a strong southerly squall causing quite a few boats to drag their anchors.
Once everything settled down, we went for a long stroll along Palm Beach enjoying the gorgeous warm weather and admiring the surfers and beautiful homes along the way. After this we climbed to the top of Barrenjoey Hill where the lighthouse is situated giving us some much needed exercise after a long long passage.
