Three Days Out

Current position: 03 16.05 N
082 52.97 W

We have been steadily heading south west in the hopes of finding some wind. As I type this, we are sailing nicely but not quite in the direction we'd hoped as we're not getting south enough. We are trying to cross the equator at about 084N but a head wind is taking us further west than planned.

We managed to finally get out of Panama City on Wednesday last week and headed for Las Perlas south of the Isthmus. Easter weekend was spent anchored at Isla Chapera and then we moved on down to Isla San Jose for a night before departing. The waters were quite murky but we managed to scrape the hull thoroughly.

It's gorgeous out here. The first day we had a dolphin show like we've never seen before. About a dozen swam with us for a couple of hours, leaping out of the water and doing huge belly flogs beside us, splashing us and all the deck. What a display!

During one very quiet patch, we both hopped into the water for a swim. A bit awesome to think that there is endless sea all around and below as well. Bit too warm to be refreshing but fab all the same.

So far, we have had literally zero luck with fishing. Paul has had lines out every day but nada! I keep hoping I won't have to take anything out of the freezer but..... well, soon it has to be sushi!

All's well aboard and we are sailing fairly close to Vagabond and another boat, Liquid Courage, but they are both out of sight at present. Our friends aboard Bamboozle are way ahead but they have a much faster vessel. They were able to get further south faster than us and pick up some good winds. We'll get there eventually but, in the meantime, we're just enjoying getting back into sailing again.

Jennifer here :-) missed you while you were in the area. Sounds like a good crossing to the Perlas. Sad news about Roger.
